Asheville Sculpture for the Garden

June 6 through December 31, 2009
A free outing on a beautiful day is the Annual Sculpture for the Garden Exhibition at the Grovewood Gallery, located behind Grove Park Inn resort hotel, just a few miles from downtown Asheville. This exhibit features large-scale, contemporary outdoor sculptures from nationally recognized artists from around the country. Sculptures will range from playful pieces suitable for the home or garden, to works for public spaces and corporate settings. This event is open to the public, and you can even stroll throught the garden when the gallery is closed.

Grovewood Gallery exhibits 9,000 square-feet of handmade American crafts by more than 500 artisans. The gallery features ceramics, glass, jewelry, garden sculpture, and an impressive second floor studio furniture collection.

Also located on the grounds are Grovewood Studios, Grovewood Gardens, the Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum, the North Carolina Homespun Museum and the Grovewood Café.

Gallery Hours are Monday - Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sundays 11am – 5pm. Directions: From I-240 in downtown Asheville, take Exit 5B. North on Charlotte Street. Right on Macon Avenue to Grove Park Inn. Grovewood is behind the hotel, opposite the Vanderbilt wing garage.

Stop by Grovewood Studios to visit artists at work, such as Carl Powell. His studio is located in the "basement" of the Grovewood Studios. The studios are open sporadically. If his light is on, knock on the door for a visit!
