Discover your yarden, the wild edibles growing just outside your door. You’ll meet over a dozen wild foods: greens, berries, mushrooms, and more. You’ll receive a list of your edibles and a “treasure map” showing where to find them. We’ll talk about harvesting and preparation, similar-looking species, medicinal uses, and more.

Founded by famed forager Alan Muskat in 1995, No Taste Like Home has been taking people “out to eat” for thirty years. Tours are offered year-round. Led by expert guides, you’ll discover at least a dozen wild edibles, including ones you might find in your own backyard. Depending on the weather and the season, these can include mushrooms, greens, fruits, roots, berries, flowers, nuts, and more. We’ll gather together and cook up a tasting. Keep your foraged finds or have them crafted into an appetizer at an award-winning Asheville restaurant.

Our Guides
Our guides are all experts in the field, including a former forager for over 75 restaurants, a naturopathic doctor, a board member of the North American Fruit Explorers, and an ethnobotanist with a master’s in Appalachian studies. For them, foraging is a way of life. With passion and precision, they make foraging safe and fun.

I booked the Wild Food Stroll with my 2 kids, and they LOVED it. Our guide was knowledgeable and had fun activities for kids (eat leaves from a tree like a giraffe). My kids came home and have enjoyed pointing out the edibles in our yard...and eating them too!
