Experience the magical display of blue ghost fireflies — only found in a handful of spots in the eastern United States, including Buncombe County. Led by an experienced guide, take a short walk to an "enchanted forest" where you’ll sit in a chair and wait for darkness. As the last light fades, you’ll begin to see the first fireflies, their light trails moving slowly through the dark forest. Limited to 16 guests, the tour is located 15 minutes from Asheville. The address for the tour is provided after tickets are purchased. The tour takes place for about two weeks every May. Cost: $25-30 (a percentage of the proceeds goes to the International Dark Sky Association).
